Upright Bass Projects

As well as saxophone, I also play upright bass and gig regularly as a jazz bassist.

I first took up the instrument with the aim of playing with a classical orchestra and I joined the double bass section of the excellent Devon Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly EMG Symphony Orchestra) in 2013. I played with them for several years.

My focus now is playing jazz bass and have gigged with many excellent Southwest musicians. Occasionally, I play both saxophone and bass on the same gig, usually in a duo setting.

I play bass with South West City Swing a good times jazz band led by singer & sax player Miles Davis. Here’s a couple of demo clips of the band. The tracks feature Miles Davis (vocals & sax), Andy Stark (trumpet), Peter Tamblyn (keys), Matt Evans (drums), Pete Canter (double bass).

If you would like to book this band, please call Miles Davis on 07760 668858 or email milesodavis808@gmail.com. See https://www.facebook.com/SouthWestCitySwing

Sketch is a new trio which features James Shipway on nylon string guitar, Marius Rudnick on flute and myself on bass. Playing swing and latin jazz, this trio is suited to smaller venues and gigs where quieter music is appropriate. Contact me to book this band. Here are a couple of clips:

Luna Nuova merges influences from latin music, jazz and Italian folk song and plays laid back bossa nova and tango music. The band features the vocals of Valentina Todino, with guitarist Fabio Ferri, Rich Cooke on percussion and myself on upright bass. Sound clips and contact details at www.lunanuova.bandcamp.com
